Humorous "Official" State Document, Agnew, Spiro [signed]
6 Agnew, Spiro [signed] Humorous "Official" State Document
Maryland 1967 No Binding Fine Book
Spiro Agnew was one of the most famous, most loved and most hated Americans of his time, and the story of his spectacular rise and fall is dramatic and exciting. His fame and notoriety blazed and burned itself out in a hot five year span from the summer of 1968 to the autumn of 1973. During those years, he was the kind of divisive figure that Sarah Palin has more recently been, though their conservative personae were completely different: he was dapper, surly and brainy where Palin is casual, cheery and outdoorsy. But like Sarah Palin he was always larger than life, and absolutely magnetic on TV. You couldn't take your eyes off him. Agnew was noted for his biting wit. The internet is replete with his quotes- -The criminal left belongs not in a dormitory, but in a penitentiary. The criminal left is not a problem to be solved by the Department of Philosophy or the Department of English, it is a problem for the Department of Justice. Black or white, the criminal left is interested in power. It is not interested in promoting the renewal and reforms that make democracy work; it is interested in promoting those collisions and conflict that tear democracy apart.- -An intellectual is a man who doesn't know how to park a bike.- -Perhaps the place to start looking for a credibility gap is not in the offices of the Government in Washington but in the studios of the networks in New York!- This "document" is in keeping with Agnew's sharp and pointed wit. State of Maryland Document with the official seal. Signed by " ....Spiro Agnew, Governor, to Arthur J. Sohmer, Greeting: Be it Known; that on behalf of the citizens of this State, in recognition of his fawning and groveling we are pleased to confer upon you this Certificate of Distinguished Sycophant. given ....this 28th day of Sept. ....... 1967..........." 14" x11" near fine condition.

No copies of this history appear on Add-All. There is one complete set listed at the Library of Congress. There is one complete set listed on the British Library online catalogue. Alexander Ranken is known to have authored three books that were theological in nature, however 'The History of France' was his life's work. This is a truly scare item , doubly so with the inscription. The three volumes are housed in a custom slipcase, compartmentalized for each volume. All together a magnificent presentation.

New York, New York, U.S.A. Aperture 1977 0912334967 / 9780912334967 Hardcover Near Fine Book Signed by Andre Kertesz
A very nice Andre Kertesz letterhead. Typed letter signed in ink, and the envelope with a Christmas stamp, laid in. Keretsz is a Hungarian-born photographer known for his groundbreaking contributions to photographic composition and the photo essay. In the early years of his career, his then-unorthodox camera angles and style prevented his work from gaining wider recognition. Today he is considered one of the seminal figures of photojournalism. The hard cover monograph was published by Aperture in 1977. The book and signed letter are both in excellent collectible condition.
